Summer road construction information and water safety practices

 Media note: North Lake Tahoe and South Lake Tahoe have partnered to provide travel resources for guests and visitors to best experience Lake Tahoe in summer months. A series of alerts will be distributed to outline special events, improvement projects, boat inspection information and water safety practices. Information is collected and provided from the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority (Tahoe South) and North Lake Tahoe.

 June XX, 2017 (LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev.) – Summer event calendars are packed with world-renowned headliners, wellness festivals and an abundance of recreational opportunities that only Lake Tahoe and the surrounding Sierra Nevada can offer. On the heels of the wettest winter on record, Lake Tahoe is now 4.5 feet higher than it was one year ago and a mere .7 inches from hitting its full limit of 6,229.1’.

 Water sport enthusiasts are rejoicing in submerged piers and additional boat docking stations around Lake Tahoe. To protect the lake ecosystem and prevent the introduction of aquatic invasive species, officials are asking everyone to do their part and uphold environmental practices by adhering to standard boat inspection protocols. Compliance keeps Lake Tahoe’s delicate ecosystem vibrant, positively impacts the local economy and preserves the biodiversity of the area.  Choose from any of the following inspection stations between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. to ensure that watercrafts are properly cleaned, drained, dry and suitable for launch:

When your boat is ready to hit the water, there is no shortage of public and private launch ramps for use. There are nine launch ramps around Lake Tahoe, five on the North Shore and four in South Lake Tahoe.
