The TRTA is teaming up with local SLT retail stores and petique, Dog Dog Cat and local dog trainer, Sandy Mathiesen for this fur-friendly hike in scenic Van Sickle Bi-State Park. This is a great opportunity to learn new canine gear and techniques for a more trail-ready companion, learn how you can support better trail dog behavior, and meet other trail-loving dog owners.

The hike will begin at the Van Sickle Trailhead with a canine gear demonstration sponsored by Dog Dog Cat next to the Heavenly Village in South Lake. Hike participants will be able to test canine gear on their dogs for the hike. Local Dog Trainer, Sandy Matheisen, will offer her expertise as we take off for a short hike in the park. On the trail, we will teach you basic trail commands, and best practices and techniques to mitigate risk to your dog and other dogs, as well as the Leave No Trace principles. After the hike, participants are invited to Dog Dog Cat (a block away) for some giveaways!

A one to one human to dog ratio works best. Please be sure to bring a leash, and sufficient water for you and your dog. Retractable leashes are not recommended.
