Homewood Mountain Resort welcomes Homewood’s Handcrafted Designs under the Pines, the second Pacific Fine Arts Festivals event of the summer, taking place Friday through Sunday August 9-11, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. With the beauty of Homewood Mountain as a backdrop, this free event brings together more than 30 artists displaying their handcrafted decorative and functional creations including collectable arts and crafts in ceramics, jewelry, woodwork, photography and much more.

The Homewood Handcrafted Designs under the Pines is the perfect way to find a unique gift or art piece for your home, office or for a friend. Each artist’s work carries its own story, crafted by the hands of talented individuals. Among the works on display at this year’s event:

Ceramics

Kim Rotchford’s collection of ceramics is eclectic ranging from simple and functional to sculptural, impressionistic pieces. Kim has a particular love of applying texture to everything she creates. “Nothing brings me more joy than to see someone not resisting the temptation to touch a her work and then smile as they run their fingers over the surface,” says Kim. “I also love to experiment with glaze and color combinations. I have a collection of over 100 glazes with which I run extensive tests to see what works together and what doesn’t.” Her collection includes mugs, cups, goblets, plates, platters, pitchers and much more.

Collage

Stephanie Almendariz uses hand cut paper to make a bigger picture, featuring paper that pertains to the subject. For example, her collage of the Golden Gate Bridge uses paper scraps that include information on San Francisco and the bridge itself. “The puzzle intrigues me,” says Stephanie. “I love to manipulate and curate mediums to create something beautiful and unique. It’s not just layers of paper, there are layers of meaning and tiny details that bring you back over and over again to discover something new each time you look at it.” Her works include musicians, points of interest, celebrities and more.

“Sophisticated Soap”

Full-time, accomplished artists, Michael and Kristina Lipchitz lovingly create extraordinary art glass dishes that dazzle, along with exquisite, hand-sculpted Glycerin art soap slices to complement the vibrant colors of their glasswork. All of their soap and body butter are carefully created from their original, proprietary, precise formulas to safely, naturally, and luxuriously pamper the face, body, heart, mind, and soul. The couple formulates their soap to create lavish lather and their body butter to leave every skin feeling silky, soft, and smooth.

Wooden Toys

Handmade from reclaimed hardwoods by “master blocksmith” Peter Dziulak creates block sets for all ages complete with balconies, crenulated towers, spires, turrets, and sweeping Roman arches. His block sets are made from a mixture of Cherry and Poplar hardwoods, and are available with or without a Danish oil finish. Each set comes with step-by-step illustrated instructions to teach you how the pieces work together, but regardless of one’s skill level they can be creatively arranged any way you like, from a sprawling kingdom to a towering citadel.
